PowerNet has a range of key service providers, including our own PowerNet Technical and Network Performance field services crews.
This work includes network enhancement projects such as line construction and subdivision reticulation, maintenance and testing of network equipment.
Technical and Network Performance crews also manage our 24/7 fault response and repair services.
Staff also maintain the generation and distribution of electricity on Stewart Island.
With over 280 staff who are based at depots in Invercargill, Lumsden, Winton, Te Anau, and Stewart Island, our field services teams have plant designed specifically for the type of work they undertake.
The operations on the PowerNet managed electricity networks cover many areas of Southland from Waikawa in the south east to Te Anau and Kingston in the north.
Line mechanics carry out a mix of live line, de-energised line work and cable installation; technical staff complete specialised work on switchgear, transformers and substations; and the office based staff provide a design and estimating service and administrative support.
While the primary focus is project work for PowerNet, our field teams also complete work for other customers.
Peak Power Services is PowerNet’s network operations and maintenance team covering Central Otago and Northern Southland. The Queenstown-based field services crews have years of experience in high voltage asset management, electricity network design, reticulation, project management and maintenance.

Corys is PowerNet’s key materials supplier in both Southland and Otago.
