Electricity Invercargill continues to provide support for various City events.

The Southland Warm Homes Trust

The SWHT was formed in 2008 by the Southland Power Trust and Electrictiy Invercargill Limited.  The SWHT, in association with the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), offers support for warmer, healthier homes by providing insulation and heating assessments and retrofits for Southland homes.

Would you like to make your home cosy and healthy?

Invercargill Festival Lights

It has arranged the erecting and dismantling of the City's colourful festival lights for many years. The decorative lights crisscross the inner city streets during the Christmas period and the Summer Festival.

Sesqui Sesqui-celebrations

A significant contribution was made towards the City's 2007 sesquicentennial celebrations. The City celebrated with a number of events culminating in a free family event at Rugby Park Stadium on Saturday 28 October. The Sound and Light Show told the 150 year long history of the city through performance mixed with audio visual components. The event ended with a hugely popular 20 minutes fireworks display that was sponsored by Electricity Invercargill.

Ecobulb Project

In 2006 Electricity Invercargill and the Invercargill City Council joined the Southland Electric Power Supply Consumer Trust, The Power Company and the Electricity Commission to fund a 6 week energy efficient light bulbs campaign. The project offered consumers in the Southland region the opportunity to purchase Ecobulbs at a substantially reduced cost.

The successful project was conceived and managed by Energy Mad, an innovative Christchurch company. Energy Mad posted a direct mail envelope, letter and voucher offering 5 Ecobulbs for $10 to around 39,000 Electricity Invercargill and The Power Company electricity consumers.

Households were encouraged to replace their 5 most often used standard light bulbs for 5 energy-saving Ecobulbs and in doing so could save up to $500 on their power bill over the lifetime of the bulbs.

Ecobulbs continue to be available in 20 watt and 15 watt screw and bayonet fittings. The 20 watt Ecobulb is equivalent to a 100 watt ordinary bulb and the 15 watt Ecobulb is equivalent to a 75 watt bulb. Ecobulbs use 80% less power than ordinary lightbulbs and are brighter, smaller and last longer than other energy saving lightbulbs.

Eco BulbsConsumer Institute rated Ecobulbs highly www.consumer.co.nz.
