Board of Directors


The Electricity Invercargill Board is made up of two representatives from the Invercargill City Council and two community representatives appointed by Invercargill City Holdings Limited.

Directors' responsibilities are governed by the Company's Constitution and the Companies Act 1993.  Their role includes determining policy; preparing a Statement of Intent, Business Plan and Asset Management Plan, monitoring PowerNet's performance, reporting to the shareholder Invercargill City Holdings, publishing an Annual Report and ensuring that PowerNet complies with relevant legislation.

 Neil Boniface


Neil Boniface - Chair
Neil is a Director of PowerNet Limited, Member of OtagoNet Joint Venture Governing Committee, Deputy Mayor of the Invercargill City Council, Board Member of the Invercargill Licensing Trust, Board Member of the ILT Foundation and Chair of the Southland Warm Homes Trust.  He operates a Driving School business in Southland and also serves on several charitable trusts.


Phil Mulvey


Philip Mulvey - Deputy Chair

Philip is the Chair of PowerNet Limited. He is Chief Executive of WHK, Chartered Accountants and has a number of Directorships. He also acts as financial advisor to a large number of local and national companies.
 Geoff Piercy
Geoffrey Piercy

Geoff is a fifth term Invercargill City Councillor, Chairman of the Works and Services Committee and appointed member of the Bluff Community Board. He is also a Director of PowerNet Limited and Invercargill Te Ara a Kewa Primary Health Organisation and a Trustee of the Southland Museum and Art Gallery. Geoff is a retired hospital and Area Health Board administrator, Life Member and President of Grey Power Southland and an Anglican Lay Minister.
 Ross Smith


Ross Smith
Ross is a Director of PowerNet Limited. He is Chief Executive of SBS Bank, the only member owned Building Society with Bank Registration in New Zealand.  Ross is also a Director of SBS Bank, Finance Now Limited, Funds Administration NZ Limited, Southsure Assurance Limited and Power Services Limited.
